Cellulose to Glass Upgrades

There are several distinct differences between glass and cellulose elements & media selection should be based on the required cleanliness and other unique needs of the system.

Normally, wire mesh and cellulose media elements are ‘nominally’ rated, which means they might be only 50% efficient at the rated micron size. Most glass media elements are considered ‘absolute’ rated which means that they are 99.5% efficient at the rated micron size.

Glass elements can last up to 4 – 5 times longer than cellulose elements.

Upgrading cellulose to glass will remove years of accumulated fine particles & reduce the element life span whilst the system is cleaned – once the system is clean the glass element can last up to 4 – 5 times longer than the cellulose element that was upgraded.

Improved sustainability

Hy-Pro filter element upgrades have been proven to extend in-service oil life by 3 -4 times by removing water, high particle load and oxidation by-products. Eliminate waste from premature oil and filter changes, and get the most out of your oil; protect sacrificial additives, eliminate varnish and acid, improve your sustainability and your bottom line at the same time.

Glass Elements Improve Dirt Hold Capacity

Glass elements have greater dirt retention capabilities compared to cellulose elements

Comparison between cellulose & glass media

Inorganic glass fibers are much more uniform in diameter and much smaller than cellulose fibers as seen in the images above.

Glass Filter Elements are More Efficient Than Cellulose Elements

Glass media elements have an absolute efficiency of 99.5%
